Athletics

        Athletics

I woke up to a beautiful start in the morning. It was Friday and I was also excited because it was athletics day. Every year our school has athletics day where every students in our school participates. We also dress up in our house colours that we're put in. Hikianalia (Yellow), Hokule’a (Green), Hine Moana (Blue), Te Aurere (Red). My house colour is Hikianalia (Yellow).

Once we were all dressed in our house colours we all made our way  to the courts where we all meet. Once the year 8 girls were released from the courts we headed to  our first station which was javelin. It was really tricky to hold the javelin stick because we had to hold it with one hand. I took three big steps and then threw the javelin “Nooo!” it landed on the ground. I didn't make it but I knew I tried my best. “Go Keis! , Go Lizara” I shouted as I cheered the other girls on. We moved on to our second station which was  throwing than zack race until we got to tug of war.

Tug of war was one of my favorite. “YUSS” I shouted knowing that we were the only team with most people. I also noticed that most team had less people. “ Hikianalia vs Te Aurere “ .Our whole team stood up and walked over to the rope, Picked it up confidence we were going to win. As we eyed  out the other team as they made their way over to the rope. “ GO! “. We pulled the rope hard as we can trying not slip. “YUSSS” the other team lost and we won. We moved on to shot put then high jump.

We got to high jump and I was already excited even though I wasn't good at it. “If you think your compatible please stay here, If you don't go to Mrs Squires” said a voice from in front. My head was spinning thinking if I should go or stay cause I really didn't  know which. So I left for the uncompitable. Feeling the excitement inside made me want to jump but instead I jump the high jump mat. “Yus” I done it feeling like going back to the compatible side. I felt good jumping the high jump mat because it made me jumpy.

Our next stop was sprints. I was more excited for sprints then I was for high jump infact this time I had butterfly in stomach. “On your mark, get set “ BOOM! went the wooden clapper. Turning my head wanting to laugh for no reason. Just in that moment I noticed I was coming last so I slowed down to catch a breath. Reaching the end of line disappointed me for not trying my best. But this time I was ready for my next round. Ready than ever. “On your mark, get set “ BOOM! again I sprinted really fast that I finally came second. It was time for the finals where all the girls who came first and second compete against each other. “Take your mark, Get set, BAMM!” went the wooden clapper again. This time I was really exhausted that my legs were not bothered to
run so I decided to jog the whole way which by the way was a hundred meter sprint.

The school finished off with a little event at the end which was relays. After that we all went back to class and packed ready for hometime. My highlights of the day was relays because I enjoyed watching the teachers race the students.

Body Paragraph

For literacy we have been learning how to make our own personal logo design. So first I went online and brainstorm different words and symbols about myself. Like my nationality. But first we had to go through some steps on a presentation.

Once I finish research next we had to create 4-5 thumbnail concepts using pencil and paper. Once that was done I had to pick 2 favorite thumbnail concepts. Then I had to ask myself some questions. One of the questions I asked myself was do the concepts I choose reflect on who I am as a person.

After asking myself some questions I then took my two favorite logos I picked and trace it on hyperstudio as neat as possible. On my logo design was my favourite sports, what I like to do and my culture.

At the end I had to export my logo and save it as jpeg on hyperstudio and then send it through email to Mrs Moala. Once we send it we had to get it printed out by Mrs moala.

Managing My Reading

Right now I am currently at the orange zone which means I haven't been managing
myself properly or completing any of my task at the right time. So my goal is to
focus on my work by completing my tasks and managing my self properly to get

Future Aspiration

               Future Aspiration

Today we are going to hear from two amazing speakers Marcus winter and Louis Gordon and also Andrew . Marcus Winter is one of New zealand’s famous artist known as the sandman. Louis Gorden Latty is  a basketball player that’s played for the glory league basketball team.

First Mr Burt introduced Andrew before Andrew introduced himself and showed us some quotes. One of the quotes were “Don’t give up the beginning is always the hardest”. He also showed us one of his favorite quotes which was “I've learnt that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people never forget how you made them feel”.

When Andrew introduced his friend Marcus I was really looking forward to hear how he became an sandman artist. He first told us that his queria started out at the street where he met Andrew on queen street when his art started to get popular and popular and now Marcus is performing overseas on stages. Marcus’s story was really cool because he went from the street to the stage.

Louis Gorden Latty talked about himself playing basketball ever since he was little. Louis showed us another video of the glory league basketball game showing him getting some goals in. If you did not Louis created an really cool
app on an ipad that records you while you are playing because he wanted to keep those good moments he had and wished it never end so that's why Louis created that app.

After we heard from our two speakers we were really lucky to take some selfies with them on a selfie stick. And getting the opportunity was really cool to hear about Louis Gorden Latty and Marcus Winter’s story because it was really inspirational.

Being Cyber Smart

Today we have been learning about how to be cybersmart with Miss Kyla. The first thing we did was watch a video clip that Miss Kyla showed to the class. The video clip was about  spaghetti growing on trees and when to harvest them. After we watched the video clip and did some thinking to  it we found out that the video about  spaghetti wasn't true because obviously spaghetti dose not have seeds in them. So we came up with some cybersmart tips above.
